History

First building of the Hospicio del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, opened in 1892

We were founded as Hospicio del Corazón de Jesús on June 25, 1892, thanks to the financial contribution of Don Manuel Galecio and the land donated by Don Francisco Aguirre Jado. Since then, we have been managed by the Guayaquil Charity Board.

The Hospicio was renamed Hogar del Corazón de Jesús in 2012. Since that date, the Hogar began to shift, adopting the best Gerontological practices to become a benchmark for care and attention for the elderly in the region.

The Hogar currently has a capacity to care for 307 senior citizens.
