Psychological Care Service for the Elderly

Our elderly receive support and intervention from our treating psychologist.

The Psychological Care Service at Hogar del Corazón de Jesús offers our elderly residents the opportunity to find new ways to face life despite the difficulties of old age, and to find moments of satisfaction and delight in this stage.

This service allows the elderly to express their ailments, desires, questions, and solutions during the support and intervention of our treating psychologist.

The home offers psychological care to our elderly residents who have been referred by the health team or others and who report some type of emotional suffering that appears through a variety of manifestations or symptoms and that worry those who live or share life with an elderly person.

The interventions of the treating psychologist can be in two modalities:

  • Individual: We address all those difficulties that prevent them from living life in the best way under new circumstances or scenarios.
  • Group: We favor the strengthening of affective bonds between the elderly, their companions, family, and staff who care for them.

In daily work, it has been found that when an elderly person receives care from their family and the team: medical, psychiatric, psychological, physical therapy, recreational, and occupational, their well-being is greater and their quality of life improves.

Psychological care is aimed at those older adults who manifest emotional suffering, which appears through a variety of manifestations or symptoms, such as:

  • Anguish,
  • Depression,
  • Irritability,
  • Grief over the death of a loved one,
  • Difficulty adapting at home,
  • Physical diminutions,
  • Terminal illnesses

The home will make every effort to encourage and involve the elderly resident, as well as to consent to establish a relationship with the psychology staff and participate in group activities. Experience has shown us that all these ways of working help them enjoy their last years of life.
