
With joy and love for their city, the residents of the Hogar del Corazón de Jesús (Home of the Heart of Jesus) of the Junta de Beneficencia celebrated the 490th anniversary of the Founding of Guayaquil. It was a light blue and white morning full of joy, pride, talent, and love that the seniors experienced during their emotional “Fiesta Juliana.”
Far from being passive spectators, they were the main protagonists of this celebration that brought together history, art, and tradition in a single setting. Through the evocation of the origins of the Pearl of the Pacific, to the Guayaquil cultural expressions that were represented by the residents of the Hogar del Corazón de Jesús.
The beauty and grace of the Guayaquil woman was reflected in the parade of the ladies of the home, who wore their light blue and white costumes or accessories in honor of the city; and the Guayaquil joy in the dance, which, despite their years, demonstrated that the people of Guayaquil are cheerful and do not give up on anything, much less because of age.
Thus, with music, dance, poetry, songs, and choreography, the seniors of the Hogar del Corazón de Jesús of the JBG paid tribute to that splendid Guayaquil of yesterday, today, and always.
