The Fair “Well-being and quality of life in aging” brought together families, students, and educational institutions at the fair “Well-being and quality of life in aging,” which took place as part of World Alzheimer’s Day.
The public accompanied the professionals and residents of Hogar del Corazón de Jesús, touring each of the demonstration stands with therapeutic activities designed to prevent and delay cognitive decline, such as memory loss and forgetfulness, which are some of the first signs of Alzheimer’s.
The fair included the participation of the TASE Foundation of Quito, recognized nationally for its experience in therapies for people with dementia, which provided educational conferences to guide families and caregivers in the management of this disease.
The activity was framed within the commemoration of World Alzheimer’s Day (September 21), with the purpose of raising awareness in the community about a health problem that affects more than 100,000 people in Ecuador, a figure that continues to increase due to the aging population and the lack of specialized centers in the country.
“With this fair, we seek to provide practical information and tools that strengthen families and caregivers. Alzheimer’s not only impacts the person who suffers from it, but also their closest environment, and our commitment is to provide comprehensive support,” said Susana Morán, manager of Homes of the Board of Charity.
During the day, the JBG also announced the upcoming opening of a Therapeutic Center specialized in Alzheimer’s and other dementias, with capacity for 25 people, which will operate in the Hogar del Corazón de Jesús in alliance with the TASE Foundation. The new service will offer a comprehensive care model, improving the quality of life of older adults and providing support to their families.
