Recreational and Occupational Therapy<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The Recreational and Occupational Therapy Workshop is responsible for taking care of the cognitive, physical, and emotional health of the elderly through recreational activities. For this purpose, the therapies are divided into three groups, which cover three different areas of the elderly’s well-being: <\/p>

Functional activities<\/strong>: Promote the mental well-being of the elderly through board games such as Parcheesi, dominoes, Chinese checkers, and other memory exercises. These activities are aimed at all residents, especially those with signs of memory impairment, Alzheimer’s, and demential diseases. <\/p>

Technical activities:<\/strong> Manual work workshops where handicrafts, toy making, carpentry, etc. are taught. The residents make various items such as dolls, tablecloths, wooden articles, embroidery, and many more; sometimes with recycled materials. <\/p>

Social activities:<\/strong> The Department of Service to the Elderly is responsible for carrying out social activities such as celebrations, outings inside and outside the city, and integration workshops among the residents.<\/p>

Each year, the Recreational and Occupational Therapy area is in charge of the following activities:<\/p>

  • Mother’s Day Celebration<\/li>
  • Father’s Day Celebration<\/li>
  • Celebration of the July festivities<\/li>
  • Celebration of International Day of Older Persons<\/li>
  • Christmas party celebration<\/li><\/ul>

    <\/p>

    All these activities change every three months, and the Elderly are guided towards therapies depending on the pathology of each group (diabetes, Parkinson’s, etc.). Since one of the main objectives of these therapies is the integration of all residents, everyone can participate in the therapies equally. Attendance at therapies is voluntary.
